Why Choose NuVision?
Vision Correction & Cataract Surgery for Southlake and Beyond
Our convenient Southlake location allows us to serve both local residents and the greater Dallas-Fort Worth Area.
What is Vision Correction Like?
At NuVision, our first step is a comprehensive exam that’s free (cataract-only consults are billed to insurance and may require a copay). In about 90 minutes we run several advanced tests, learn your goals and lifestyle, and your doctor recommends the procedure that is best for you (you may also qualify for multiple procedures). We’ll also review pricing, insurance, scheduling, and pre-op instructions, and you’re encouraged to bring a guest.
Please leave contacts out before your planning exam, timing varies by contact lens type and procedure, but about 3 days is generally okay. We will provide specific instruction at your consultation. We'll take additional measurements at this visit, take several prescriptions, and dilate your eyes. We'll also go over all the details of the procedure and answer any questions you may have.
This is an exciting day that will instantly change your life, but we understand it's completely normal to be nervous. Using oral sedatives (like Valium) and numbing eyedrops you will be completely relaxed and comfortable throughout the entire procedure. Before getting you comfortable, we may recheck your prescription one more time and then walk you to the room where the surgeon talks you through every step. LASIK, PRK, and SMILE take about 15 minutes total for both eyes and for most people it's over before you realize it started! EVO ICL and RLE take about 25 minutes total for both eyes and the actual time we're around your eyes is closer to 12 minutes total. We send you home with everything you need and encourage a long nap and a good night of sleep to enjoy your NuVision in the morning!
Immediately after the procedure, things will look blurry like your eyes are open in a pool underwater but for many people things are still clearer than when they started! For EVO ICL, after about 1 hour most people are surprised how well they're seeing and by the next morning, you'll be amazed.
For LASIK, PRK, and SMILE, when the numbing drops wear off after 30 minutes some scratchiness is expected. It's best to sleep through this phase if possible but we provide you some extra drops to take the edge off if needed. The next morning, vision is typically excellent.
For RLE and Cataract Surgery, vision improves the next morning and continues getting even better over the next several days.
You can get back to life as normal and going back to work the next day is even okay. More specific instructions will be provided.
What if I'm Not
a LASIK Candidate?
It’s very rare that people don’t qualify for LASIK, so even if you’ve been told this there are many advanced vision correction options can still reduce or eliminate glasses and contacts. Even with conditions like keratoconus, there’s a solution for nearly everyone.

Busting Myths
Vision correction can treat a wide variety of ages and prescription. Do you know the answers to these common Vision Correction Questions?
Do You Know Your Vision Milestone?

Our eyes grow with us. We stop growing around age 18 and so do our eyes. Your prescription might have changed through middle and high school but ocular maturity is when our eyes stop growing and the prescription stops changing. This is a great time to have vision correction! Possible procedures include EVO ICL, LASIK/PRK, SMILE, or RLE.

The lens behind the colored part (iris) of the eye is very flexible when we're young and can change focus much like a camera. While most parts of the body are able to regenerate, the lens doesn't have a blood supply and can't regrow or regenerate. This means waste products build up in the lens over our lives. This first causes a problem in our 40s when it makes the lens become rigid. A rigid lens is no longer flexible and can't move to focus anymore. This is when many people turn to readers or bifocals to see up close. Don't worry! There are many ways to help you be free from glasses at this stage too! Procedures include RLE, EVO ICL, and LASIK/PRK.

As waste material continues building up in the lens, it eventually causes the lens to become cloudy and a cloudy lens is called a cataract! Cataracts make vision fuzzy, blurry, yellow, and can cause glare and difficulty driving at night or reading. Thankfully, laser cataract surgery can correct your astigmatism, prescription, and help you see. both far away and read without glasses!

Immediately after the procedure, things will look blurry like your eyes are open in a pool underwater but for many people things are still clearer than when they started! For EVO ICL, after about 1 hour most people are surprised how well they're seeing and by the next morning, you'll be amazed.
